Wisdom & Understanding

The battle is not yours

Most often we hold on to things that do not serve us, and we fight battles that are not ours to fight.  For years, I battled against the circumstances that rose up against me.  Unfortunately, I was using the wrong tools for the battle.  Exodus 14:14 says, the Lord shall fight for you and you shall hold your peace.  Sometimes we need to practice letting go in order to grow.  You cannot move forward if you’re stuck in place.  Fighting battles you’re not meant to fight will become exhaustive and can leave you feeling void and without purpose.  Stop fighting! Lean into the power of God and allow Him to fight your battles. If you’re struggling, fighting what seems like a losing battle, lean not unto your own understanding. The bible tells us to put our plans before the Lord, have faith, act, and He will do the rest.

Take time to invest in yourself

Sunday, December 19, 2021

I’m kicking off my year of no excuses for 2022 and I hope you’ll join me.  I chose the year of no excuses because I can come up with a lot of “explaining” to not do what I know I should be doing. Part of the reason my leveling up took so long was that my head was and to some extent is still hard.  It wasn’t until I understood the importance of listening and applying knowledge to my life that I started to see a difference in my process.  As we look forward to 2022 let us commit to acquiring wisdom and understanding.  Take the time to invest in yourself. I know it’s easy to say, so first things first, when you know better, do better.  Yes, you’ll make mistakes, yes consistency will be an issue when you first start but make the commitment to do better.  Let me share a story with you.  I came to the realization that I needed to devote more time to studying the word of God, but I never seem to have enough time.  Meanwhile, I would find time to watch my favorite news programs and HGTV.  It all came to a head when I started feeling more and more stuck.  Moving but not advancing and I decided that enough was enough.  One day, I made a commitment to myself, I told no one, not even my husband.  I knew he would be supportive but my track record for sticking to “things” was not great.  I wanted my actions to speak for themselves, and to be truthful I didn’t want the added pressure if inconsistency grabbed a hold of me.  I’m not going to paint a rosy picture, the start was rough, but I stuck with it, and before I realized it, my devotion time had become part of my daily routine.  I’m not going to tell you what my timeline was, that’s not important.  My point is if you know you need to do something to further yourself, do it.  If it’s learning a new skill, going back to school, prayer, or meditation, whatever needs to get done, start by taking small steps, and stick with it.  Stick with it, your reward will be greater than expected.  Thanks for spending some time with me.  Keep on keeping on everybody and be blessed.
